Ghazal: Kabhi Aye Haqeeqat-e-Muntazir

Kabhi Ae Haqiqat-e-Muntazir! Nazar Aa Libas-e-Majaz Mein
Ke Hazaron Sajde Tadap Rahe Hain Meri Jabeen-e-Niaz Mein

For once, O awaited Reality, reveal Yourself in material form,
For a thousand prostrations are longing eagerly in my submissive forehead.

Tarb Ashnaye Kharosh Ho, Tu Nawa Hai Mehram-e-Gosh Ho
Woh Surood Kya Ke Chupa Huwa Ho Sakoot-e-Parda-e-Saaz Mein

Know the pleasure of tumult: thou art a tune consort with the ear!
What is that melody worth, which hides itself in the silent chords of the harp.

Tu Bacha Bacha Ke Na Rakh Isse, Tera Aaeena Hai Woh Aaeena
Ke Shikast Ho To Aziz Tar Hai Nigah-e-Aaeena Saaz Mein

Do not try to protect them, your mirror is that mirror (referring to eye)
Which would be dearer in the Maker's eye if they got broken (to cry)

Dam-e-Tof Karmak-e-Shama Ne Ye Kaha Ke Woh Asar-e-Kuhan
Na Teri Hikayat-e-Souz Mein, Na Meri Hadees-e-Gudaz Mein

During Circumambulation the moth exclaimed, "Those past effects
Neither in your story of pathos, nor in my tale of love are"

Na Kaheen Jahan Mein Aman Mili, Jo Aman Mili To Kahan Mili
Mere Jurm-e-Khana Kharab Ko Tere Afuw-e-Banda Nawaz Mein

My dark misdeeds found no refuge in the wide world -
The only refuge they found was in Your Gracious Forgiveness

Na Woh Ishq Mein Raheen Garmiyaan, Na Woh Husn Mein Raheen Shaukiyan
Na Woh Ghaznavi Mein Tarap Rahi, Na Kham Hai Zulf-e-Ayaz Mein

Neither love has that warmth, nor beauty has that humour
Neither that restlessness in Ghaznavi nor those curls in the hair locks of Ayaz are,

Jo Mein Sar Basajda Huwa Kabhi To Zameen Se Ane Lagi Sada
Tera Dil To Hai Sanam Ashna, Tujhe Kya Mile Ga Namaz Mein

Even as I laid down my head in prostration a cry arose from the ground:
Your heart has become Materialistic, what reward will you get from the Prayers.

Har Shay Musafir Har Cheez Raahi

Har Shay Musafir, Har Cheez Raahi
Kya Chand Tare, Kya Murg-o-Maahi

Every unit is Voyaging, every thing is in motion
Not only the moon and stars, even the animals and fishes.

Tu Mard-e-Maidan, Tu Mir-e-Lashkar
Noori Huzoori Tere Sipaahi

You the champion of the battlefield, you the head of the army
Even the bright angels become your soldiers.

Kuch Qadar Apni Tu Ne Na Jani
Ye Besawadi, Ye Kam Nigaahi!

Of your own greatness you have no notion.
This tastelessness, this less sightedness.

Dunya-e-Doon Ki Kab Tak Ghulami
Ya Raahbi Kar Ya Padshaahi

How long will you be the slave of this dark world?
Either do leadership or do Kingship.

Peer-e-Haram Ko Dekha Hai Mein Ne
Kirdar Be-Souz, Guftar Waahi

I have seen the leader of our mosque
Tuneless character. unrealistic speech.

La Ilaaha IllAllah

Khudi Ka Sirr-e-Nihan La Ilaha Illallah
Khudi Hai Taeg, Fasan La Ilaha Illallah

The secret of the self is hid, In words, "No god but Allah"
The self is just a dull sword, the grinding stone is, "No god but Allah"

Ye Dour Apne Baraheem Ki Talash Mein Hai
Sanam Kadah Hai Jahan, La Ilaha Illallah

This Era is in search of its Abraham, Coz
The whole world is Polytheist, only "No god but Allah" can save it.

Ye Maal-o-Doulat-e-Dunya, Ye Rishta-o-Pewand
Butan-e-Weham-o-Guman, La Ilaha Illallah

The worldly wealth and riches, ties of blood and friendship
The idols, the illusions and thought, is nothing, except "No god but Allah".

Kiya Hai Tu Ne Mataa-e-Ghuroor Ka Soda
Fareb-e-Sood-o-Zayan, La Ilaha Illallah

A bargain you have struck for goods of life, a step, that smacks conceit,
All save the call "No god but He," is merely fraught with fraud and deceit.

Agarche Buth Hain Jamat Ki Astinon Mein
Mujhe Hai Hukm-e-Azan, La Ilaha Illallah

Even though the Idols are concealed in the sleeves of the congregation,
I am ordained to respond to the Azaan with, "No god but Allah".

Ye Naghma Fasl-e-Gul-o-Lala Ka Nahin Paband
Bahar Ho Ke Khizan, La Ilaha Illallah

These melodious songs are not confined To Time when rose and tulip bloom
Whatever be the season, "No god but Allah" must ring always.

Khird Huwi Hai Zaman-o-Makan Ki Zunnari
Na Hai Zaman Na Makan, La Ilaha Illallah

The mind has worn the holy thread of Time and Space like pagans
Though Time and Space both illusive "No god but True" is true withal.

Ghazal: Jab Ishq Sikhata Hai

Jab Ishq Sikhata Hai Adaab-e-Khud 'Agaahi
Khulte Hain Ghulamon Par Asrar-e-Shehanshaahi

When Love teaches man the respect of Self-Awareness
Though being a slave, he experiences the Kingly deeds

Attar Ho, Rumi Ho, Razi Ho, Ghazzali Ho
Kuch Hath Nahin Ata Be Aah-e-Sahargaahi

Be it Attar or Rumi or Razi or Gazali
Nothing comes in hand without the "night prayers"

Naumeed Na Ho In Se Aey Rahbar-e-Farzaana
Kamkosh To Hain Lekin Be-Zauq Nahin Raahi

O leader of intelligent, don't you despair of their worth
Though they are sluggish, your followers are loyal to you.

Aey Taa'ir-e-Lahooti! Uss Rizq Se Mout Achchi
Jis Rizq Se Aati Ho Parwaaz Mein Kotaahi

O bird who flies to the Eternal world! It is better to starve to death
Than to live on a prey, that obstructs your flight.

Dara-o-Sikandar Se Woh Mard-e-Faqeer Aula
Ho Jis Ki Faqeeri Mein Boo-e-Asadullaahi

Better than Darius and Alexander is that Fakir,
Whose piety has the attributes of 'The Tiger of God' (Ali)

Aa'een-e-Jawan Mardaan, Haq Goyi-o-Bebaki
Allah Ke Sheron Ko Aati Nahin Roobaahi

The constitution of men are, Speaking the Truth and being Upright
The Lions of God know not the traits of cunning of Fox.

Ghazal: Chamak Teri Ayaan Bijli Mein

Chamak Teri Ayaan Bijli Mein Aatish Mein Sharaare Mein;
Jhalak Teri Haweeda Chaand Mein Suraj Mein Taare Mein

Your Sparkle can be seen in thunder, in fire, in spark
Your Existance is evident in moon, in sun , in stars

Bulandi Aasmanon Mein, Zameeon Mein Teri Pasti
Rawani Behr Mein, Uftadgi Teri Kinare Mein

Your Greatness in the skies and the Depthness in the lands
Your Flow in the oceans and the stillness in the shores

Shariat Kyun Gireban-Geer Ho Zauq-e-Takallam Ki
Chupa Jata Hun Apne Dil Ka Matlab Istaare Mein

Why should Shari'ah be accused of the taste of the eloquance?
I only conceal the meaning of my heart in metaphors

Jo Hai Baidar Insan Mein Woh Gehri Neend Sota Hai
Shajar Mein, Phool Mein, Haiwan Mein, Pathar Mein, Sitare Mein

The one who is awake among the mankind gord into deep sleep
In trees, in flowers, in animals, in stones, in stars

Mujhe Phoonka Hai Souz-e-Qatra-e-Ashk-e-Mohabbat Ne
Ghazab Ki Aag Thi Pani Ke Chote Se Sharare Mein

I have been blown by the droplet of the burning tear of love
Wrtah of fire was present in that small droplet of water

Nahin Jinse Sawab-e-Akhirat Ki Aarzoo Mujh Ko
Woh Soudagar Hun, Main Ne Naf'a Dekha Hai Khasare Mein

In which I expect no reward for me on the Judgement day
That merchant I am who sees profit in the loss

Sukoon Na-Ashna Rehna Isse Saman-e-Hasti Hai
Tadap Kis Dil Ki Ya Rab Chup Ke Aa Baithi Hai Paare Mein

Being unaware of tranquility is existence for it
O God! Restlessness of which heart is residing in mercury

Sada-e-Lantarani Sun Ke Aey Iqbal Mein Chup Hun
Taqazon Ki Kahan Taqat Hai Mujh Furqat Ke Mare Mein

O Iqbal I am silent after hearing the call of "LanTarani"
Being afflicted with separation I have no strength for importunity

Ghazal: Qataa - A Piece

Andaz-e-Byan Gharche Bohat Shaukh Nahin Hai
Shayad Ke Utar Jaye Tere Dil Mein Meri Baat

Though my art of speech isn't so witty
Maybe my words will sink into your heart

Ya Wusaat-e-Aflak Mein Takbeer-e-Musalsal
Ya Khak Ke Aghosh Mein Tasbeeh-o-Munajat

Or continuous crying on God's greatness through the boundless sky
Or chanting Your name, embraced by the soil

Woh Mazhab-e-Mardan-e-Khud Agah-o-Khuda Mast
Ye Mazhab-e-Mullah-o-Jamadat-o-Nabataat

That is the religion of man who is of self-conscious and intoxicated with God.
This is the religion of mullas and the non living and the (plants) living.

Sitaron Se Aage Jahaan Aur Bhi Hain

Sitaron Se Aage Jahaan Aur Bhi Hain
Abhi Ishq Ke Imtihan Aur Bhi Hain

Beyond the stars are even more worlds
There are still even more tests of passion

Tihi Zindagi Ke Nahin Yeh Fazaayein
Yahan Sainkadon Kaaravaan Aur Bhi Hain

These expanses are not devoid of life
Here there are hundreds of other caravans too

Qanaa'at Nah Kar Aalam-e-Rang-o-Bu Par
Chaman Aur Bhi, Aashiyaan Aur Bhi Hain!

Don't be contented with the world of color and scent
There are other gardens, other nests (resting places), too

Agar Kho Gaya Ek Nasheman Tho Kya Gham
Muqaamaat-e-Aah-o-Fughaan Aur Bhi Hain!

If a nest (home) was lost, what's the [cause of] grief?
There are other places for sighing and lamenting

Tu Shaaheen Hai, Parvaaz Hai Kaam Tera
Tere Saamne Aasmaan Aur Bhi Hain

You are a falcon, your task is to fly
Before you there are other skies as well to cover

Isi Roz-o-Shab Mein Ulajh Kar Nah Rah Jaa
Kih Tere Zamaan-o-Makaan Aur Bhi Hain

Don't remain entangled, in this day-and-night
For you have other times-and-places too

Gaye Din Ke Tanhaa Thaa Main Anjuman Mein
Yahaan Ab Mere Raaz-Daan Aur Bhi Hain!

The days are gone when I was alone in the gathering
Here, now, I have other secret-sharers too

Ghazal: Hamein Ismein Takrar Kya Thi

Na Aate, Hamein Ismein Takrar Kya Thi?
Magar Waada Karte Huwe Aar Kya Thi?

If you had not come I would have had no occasion for contention?
But what reluctance in making the promise was with me?

Tumhare Payami Ne Sab Raaz Khola;
Khata Ismein Bande Ki Sarkaar Kya Thi?

Your messenger disclosed every secret
O Lord!What fault of Man in this was?
(Allusion to Quran as a source of all knowledge)

Bhari Bazm Mein Apne Aashiq Ko Tadha;
Teri Aankh Masti Mein Hoshiyaar Kya Thi?

You recognized Your Lover in the full assembly.
How alert Your eye in the middle of the ecstasy was!

Ta'mmul To Tha Unke Aane Mein, Qasid!
Magar Ye Bata Tarz-e-Inkaar Kya Thi?

True! Reluctant was he to come, O messenger!
But tell me what the manner of denial was?

Kheenche Khud ba Khud Jaanib-e-Toor, Moosa;
Kashish Teri Aye Shokh-e-Deedar Kya Thi?

Moses was effortlessly attracted to Toor!
How strong, O Zeal your attraction was!?

Kahin Zikr Rehta Hai Iqbal Tera!
Fasoon Tha Koi, Teri Guftaar Kya Thi!

Your fame continues somewhere, O Iqbal!
Some magic, not your speech it was!

Aurat Ki Hifazat (Protection of Women)

Ek Zindah Haqeeqat Mere Seene Mein Hai Mastoor
Kya Samjhega Woh Jis Ki Ragon Mein Hai Lahuu Sard

A living reality is hidden in my breast,
What would he understand, in whose veins the blood is cold?

Ne Pardah Nah Taleem Nayee Ho Ke Puraani
Nisvaaniyat-e-Zann Ka Nigahbaan Hai Faqat Mard

Neither Pardah Nor Education, whether it be new or old
The guardian of the femininity of woman is only man

Jis Qaum Ne Is Zindah Haqeeqat Ko Na Paayaa
Uss Qaum Ka Khursheed Bahut Jald Huwa Zard

The community that didn't realize this living reality
That community's sun very quickly became pale

Ghazal: Aazadi-e-Nisvaan (The Freedom Of Women)

Is Bahas Ka Faisla main kuch Kar Nahi Sakta;
Jo Khoob Samajhta Hoon Ke Yeh Zeher hai woh Qand

I cannot make any decision in this argument
Though I understand very well that this side is poison; that side sugar

Kya Faida Kuch Keh Ke Banu Aur Bhi Ma'toob?
Pehle Hi Khafa Mujhse Hain Tehzeeb Ke Farzand

What's the benefit of saying something and becoming more vilified?
Already they are angry with me; the offspring of modern civilization

Iss Raaz Ko Aurat Ki Baseerat Hi Kare Faash;
Majboor Hain Ma'zoor Hain Mardaan-e-Khiradmand

This secret, only the inside of women would reveal
They are helpless, they are to be excused, the men of wisdom

Kya Cheez Hai Aaraa'ish-o-Keemath Mein Zyaada?
Aazaadi-e-Nisvaa Ke Zumurrud Ka GuluBand?

Which thing is greater in adornment and value?
The freedom of women or an emerald necklace?

Ghazal: La Phir Ek Baar Wahi Baadah-o-Jaam Aye Saaqi

La Phir Ek Baar Wahi Baadah-o-Jaam Aye Saaqi!
Haath Aajaye Mujhe Mera Maqaam Aye Saaqi!
O Cup-bearer! Give me again that wine of 'love for You';
Let me gain the real place, my soul desires!

Teen So Saal Se Hain Hind Ke Mai-Khaane Band;
Ab Munaasib Hai Tera Faiz Ho Aam Aye Saaqi!
For Three hundred years the wine-shops of India are closed.
Now is the time Your Triumph should be made popular, O Saaqi

Mere Maina-e-Ghazal Mein Thi Zara Si Baaki;
Shaikh Kehta Hai Ke, "Hai Ye Bhi Haraam", Aye Saaqi!
My lyrical vein was all dried up, with little remains.
The Shaik decrees that, "Even this is prohibited", O Saaqi!

Sher Mardon Se Hua Baisha-e-Tehqeeq Tahi!
Reh Gaye Sufi-o-Mullah Ke Ghulam Aey Saaqi!
The whole Nation is Empty with the Lion Charactered Men
Now that we are the Slaves of the so called Sufi & Mullah,O Saaqi

Ishq Ki Taigh-e-Jigar Daar Uda Li Kisne?
ILM Kay Haath Mein Khali Hai Nayaam Aey Saaqi!
Who Snatched Away the Piercing Sword of Love (Strong Faith)?
Knowledge is Left With an Empty Sheath Alone, O Saaqi!

Seenah Roshan Ho, Tho Hai Soz-o-Sukhan Ain-e-Hayaat;
Ho Na Roshan, Tho Sukhan Marg-e-Dawaam Aey Saaqi.
With a luminous soul the power of song is life;
With a darkened soul that power is eternal death.

Tu Meri Raat Ko Mehtaab Se Meroom Na Rakh;
Tere Paimaane Mein Hai Mah-e-Tamaam Aye Saaqi.
A full moon glistens in Your brimful cup;
Deprive me not of its silver beams at night.

Mard-e-Musalman

Har Lehza Hai Moomin Ki Nayee Shaan Nayee Aaan;
Guftar Mein Kirdaar Mein Allah Ki Burhaan.

Every Moment of a True Believer is a new grandeur;
By words and deeds he gives a proof Of Mighty God, His reach and power

Qahhari-o-Ghaffari-o-Quddusi-o-Jabrood;
Yeh Chaar Anasir Ho Tho Banta Hai Musalmaan.

Rout the foes, Grant them Reprieve, Do pious deeds & show great might;
Are the four characteristics that make A Perfect Muslim

Hamsaaya-e-Jibreel-e-Ameen Banda-e-Khaki;
Hai Iska Nasheman Na Bukhaara Na Badakhshaan.

This clay-born man has kinship close to Gabriel the trusted;
His dwelling place is neve r a land or clime.

Ye Raaz Kisiko Nahin Maalum Ke Moomin!
Qari Nazar Aata Hai; Haqeekat Mein Hai Qur'an.

The Believer's Secret has not been known by anyone.
He looks like a Reciter; But in fact he himself is the Qur'an.

Qudrat Ke Maqasid Ka Ayyar, Iske Iraade;
Duniya Mein Bhi Mizaan, Qayamat Mein Bhi Mizaan.

The Nature's aims and ends are his intentions;
He keeps Balance in this World also & keeps Balance in the Hereafter also.

Jis'se Jigar-e-Laala Mein Thandak Ho Wo Shabnam;
Daryawon Ke Dil Jis'se Dahel Jaaye Wo Toofaan.

With friends and mates, He is dew that cools the tulip;
With enemies he is like torrent strong which makes oceans shake.

Fitrat Ka Sarood-e-Azal Iske Shab-o-Roz;
Aahang Mein Ekta, Sifat-e-Sura-e-Rehmaan

His Days and Nights are Nature's Sweet Song;
Like Chapter Rehman of Qur'an is his Melodious rhyming tune.

Bante Hain Meri Kargah-e-Fikr Mein Anjum;
Le Apne Muqaddar Ke Sitare Ko Tu Pehchaan.

Such thoughts that shine like lustrous stars are provided in my Brain
Recognize the star which will guide your Fate.

Gazal: Ajab Waa'iz Ki Deendari Hai Ya Rab!

Ajab Waa'iz Ki Deendari Hai Ya Rab!
Adaawat Hai Ise Saare Jahaan Se.

Strange is the piety of the preacher, O Lord!
He has animosity (hatred) towards the whole world

Koi Ab Tak Na Ye Samjha Ke Insaan;
Kahaan Jaata Hai, Aata Kahaan Se?

Nobody has so far understood that Man!
Where he is going, and where is coming from?

Waheen Se Raat Ko Zulmat Mili Hai!
Chamak Taare Ne Payee Jahaan Se!

From the same source has the night obtained darkness!
The source from where the star has obtained brightness.

Hum Apni Dardmandi Ka Fasaana!
Suna Karte Hain, Apne Raazdaan Se.

The tale of our compassion is;
Always related by our sympathizer.

Badi Baarik Hain, Wa'iz Ki Chaalein;
Larazta Hai Awaaz-e-Azaan Se.

Very subtle are the ways of the preacher;
He trembles on hearing the voice of adhan!

Ghazal - Gulzaar-e-Hast-o-Bood Na Begaana Waar Dekh!

Gulzaar-e-Hast-o-Bood Na Begaana Waar Dekh!
Hai Dekhne Ki Cheez Ise Bar Bar Dekh!

Do not look at the garden of existence like a stranger!
It is a thing worth looking at, look at it again and again.

Aaya Hai Tu Jahaan Mein Mashaal-e-Sharaar, Dekh.
Dam De Na Jaaye Hasti, Napaayedaar Dekh.

You have come into the world like a spark, beware!
Lest your short span of life may end suddenly, beware.

Maana Ke Tere Deed Ke Qabil Nahin Hain Ham.
Tu Mera Shokh Dekh Mera Intezaar Dekh.

I accept that I am not worthy of Your (God's) Sight.
You should look at my zeal, and look at my perseverance (patience).

Ghazal: Zamana Aaya Hai Be-Hijaabi Ka

Zamana Aaya Hai Be-Hijabi Ka, Aam Deedar-e-Yaar Hoga;
Sakoot Tha PardaDaar Jiska Wo Raaz Ab Aashkaar Hoga.

Era has come for openness, so Beloved's Sight will be common.
The secret which silence had concealed, will be unveiled now.

Guzar Gaya Ab Wo Daur Saaqi, Ke Chupke Peetey The PeeneWaale;
Banega Saara Jahaan Mai'Khaana; Har Koi Badah Khwaar Hoga.

O Cup-bearer! Time has gone when wine was taken secretly.
The whole world will become a Bar, everyone will be drinking

Kabhi Jo Aawarah Junoon The, Wo Bastiyon Mein Phir Aa Basenge;
BarahnaPaayi Wahi Rahegi, Magar Naya KhaarZaad Hoga.

Those who once wandered insane, will return to habitations;
Lovers' wandering will be the same but deserts will be anew.

Suna Diya Gosh-e-Muntazir Ko Hijaaz Ki Khamoshi Ne Aakhir;
Jo Ahad Sehra'iyon Se Baandha Gaya Tha Phir Ustawaar Hoga.

The Hijaz' silence has proclaimed to the waiting ear at last
The covenants established with deserters will be re'assured

Nikal Ke Sehra Se Jisne Rooma Ki Saltanat Ko Ulat Diya Tha;
Suna Hai Ye Qudsiyon Se Maine Wo Sher Phir Hoshiyar Hoga.

The one coming from deserts had overturned the Roman Empire;
I have heard from the Qudsis that the same Lion will be re-awakened

Kiya Mera Tazkira Jo Saaqi Ne Badahkwaaron Ke Anjuman Mein;
Tho Peer-e-Majlis Ne Sunke Kehne Laga K Manphat Hai Khwar Hoga

As the cup-bearer mentioned me in the wine-drinkers assembly;
The Bar's head said, "He is insolent, he will be disgraced"

Diyaar-e-Maghrib K Rehne Walon, Khuda Ki Basti Dukan Nahi Hai;
Khara Jise Tum Samajh Rahe Ho Wo Ab Zar-e-Kam 'Ayaar Hoga.

O Western world's inhabitants, God's world is not a shop!
What you are considering genuine, will be regarded counterfeit.

Tumhaari Tehzeeb Apne Khanjar Se Aap Hi Khudkashi Karegi;
Jo Shaakh-e-Naazuk Pe Aashiyana Banega Na-Payedaar Hoga.

Your civilization will commit suicide with its own knife;
The nest built on the weak branch will not be permanent, stable.

--

Chaman Mein Lala Dikhaata Phirta Hai Daag Apna, Kali Kali Ko;
Ye Jaanta Hai Ke Is Dikhaawe Se Diljalon Mein Shumaar Hoga.

The Lala (a bird), shows its spots to every flower-bud in the garden.
Knowing that by doing this it will be among the Love haters.

Jo Ek Tha Aye Nigaah Toone Hazaar Karke Hamein Dikhaaya;
Yahi Agar Kaifiyath Hai Teri Tho Phir Kise Aitebaar Hoga?

O Sight! that which was the One(God) you showed us as a thousand?
If this is still your state, what will be your trustfulness?

---

Khuda Ke Ashiq To Hain Hazaro Bano Mein Phirtey Hain Marey Marey
Main Uska Banda Banonga Jisko,Khuda Ke Bandon Se Pyar Hoga

God's Lovers are in thousands, roaming here & there in the caves;
I shall adore the one who will be the lover of God's people

Ye Rasm-e-Bazm-e-Fana Hai, Aye Dil! Gunah Hai Chumbish-e-Nazar Bhi;
Rahegi Kya Aabaru Hamaari Jo Tu Yahaan Beqaraar Hoga?

These customs & rituals are to perish, O Heart! Even winking is a sin
What will our respect be if you will be restless here?

Main Zulmat-e-Shab Mein Leke Niklunga Apne DarManda Karwaan Ko;
Sharar Fashaan Hogi Aah Meri, Nafs Mera Sholabaar Hoga!

In the darkness of the night I shall take out my tired caravan
My sigh will be shedding sparks my breath will be throwing flames

---

Na Pooch Iqbal Ka Thikaana, Abhi Wahi Kaifiyat Hai Uski;
Kahin Sar-e-Raah Guzaar Baitha, Sitam Kash-e-Intezaar Hoga.

Do not ask about the condition of Iqbal,he is in the same state;
Sitting somewhere by the wayside waiting for oppression!

Ghazal - Mata-e-Bebaha

Mat'a-e-Bebaha Hai Dard-o-Soz-e-Aarazoo Mandi!
Makaam-e-Bandagi Dekar Na Loon Shaan-e-Khudawandi!

Consuming fire for You, O Lord, Is a gift I will not trade;
I will not change slave's rank with that of a Master of men!!

Tere Aazaad Bandon Ki Na Ye Duniya Na Wo Duniya!
Yahaan Marne Ki Pabandi Wahaan Jeene Ki Pabandi.

Neither this world nor the next is for Your Liberal-slaves;
They are forced to die in this, And forced to live in the other!

Hijaab Akseer Hai Aawara Koo-e-Muhabbat Ko;
Meri Aatish Ko Bhadkati Hai Teri Der Paibandi.

Concealment is an elixir For those who are lost in love.
Your provoking reticence Inflames my passion more;

Guzar Aukaat Kar Leta Hai Ye Koh-o-Bayabaan Mein;
Ke Shaheen Ke Liye Zillat Hai Kaar-e-Aashiyaan Bandi.

Living in peace it roams On hills and in wildernesses;
The pride of Falcon will degrade By building an abode for itself.

Ye Faizaan-e-Nazar Tha Ya Ke Maktab Ki Karamat Thi?
Sikhaai Kisne Ismail Ko Aadab-e-Farzandi?

Was it the blessing of a glance, Or the miracle of tutelage?
Who taught to young Ismail The ways of filial obedience?

Ziyaratgaah-e-Ahle Azm-o-Himmat Hai Lahad Meri!
Ke Khaak-e-Raah Ko Maine Bataaya Raaz-e-Alwandi!

My grave is like a shrine For men of thought and courage!
For I have revealed truths sublime To mere specks of dust.

Meri Mashshatgi Ki Kya Zaroorat Husn-e-Maani Ko?
Ke Fitrat Khudba Khud Karti Hai Laale Ki Hinabandi!

The beauty of meaning need riot be Adorned by my craft,
For nature does herself Laala's Hinabandi (Incarnadine).
Laala is a kind of flower.
