Ghazal: Chamak Teri Ayaan Bijli Mein

Chamak Teri Ayaan Bijli Mein Aatish Mein Sharaare Mein;
Jhalak Teri Haweeda Chaand Mein Suraj Mein Taare Mein

Your Sparkle can be seen in thunder, in fire, in spark
Your Existance is evident in moon, in sun , in stars

Bulandi Aasmanon Mein, Zameeon Mein Teri Pasti
Rawani Behr Mein, Uftadgi Teri Kinare Mein

Your Greatness in the skies and the Depthness in the lands
Your Flow in the oceans and the stillness in the shores

Shariat Kyun Gireban-Geer Ho Zauq-e-Takallam Ki
Chupa Jata Hun Apne Dil Ka Matlab Istaare Mein

Why should Shari'ah be accused of the taste of the eloquance?
I only conceal the meaning of my heart in metaphors

Jo Hai Baidar Insan Mein Woh Gehri Neend Sota Hai
Shajar Mein, Phool Mein, Haiwan Mein, Pathar Mein, Sitare Mein

The one who is awake among the mankind gord into deep sleep
In trees, in flowers, in animals, in stones, in stars

Mujhe Phoonka Hai Souz-e-Qatra-e-Ashk-e-Mohabbat Ne
Ghazab Ki Aag Thi Pani Ke Chote Se Sharare Mein

I have been blown by the droplet of the burning tear of love
Wrtah of fire was present in that small droplet of water

Nahin Jinse Sawab-e-Akhirat Ki Aarzoo Mujh Ko
Woh Soudagar Hun, Main Ne Naf'a Dekha Hai Khasare Mein

In which I expect no reward for me on the Judgement day
That merchant I am who sees profit in the loss

Sukoon Na-Ashna Rehna Isse Saman-e-Hasti Hai
Tadap Kis Dil Ki Ya Rab Chup Ke Aa Baithi Hai Paare Mein

Being unaware of tranquility is existence for it
O God! Restlessness of which heart is residing in mercury

Sada-e-Lantarani Sun Ke Aey Iqbal Mein Chup Hun
Taqazon Ki Kahan Taqat Hai Mujh Furqat Ke Mare Mein

O Iqbal I am silent after hearing the call of "LanTarani"
Being afflicted with separation I have no strength for importunity

Sitaron Se Aage Jahaan Aur Bhi Hain

Sitaron Se Aage Jahaan Aur Bhi Hain
Abhi Ishq Ke Imtihan Aur Bhi Hain

Beyond the stars are even more worlds
There are still even more tests of passion

Tihi Zindagi Ke Nahin Yeh Fazaayein
Yahan Sainkadon Kaaravaan Aur Bhi Hain

These expanses are not devoid of life
Here there are hundreds of other caravans too

Qanaa'at Nah Kar Aalam-e-Rang-o-Bu Par
Chaman Aur Bhi, Aashiyaan Aur Bhi Hain!

Don't be contented with the world of color and scent
There are other gardens, other nests (resting places), too

Agar Kho Gaya Ek Nasheman Tho Kya Gham
Muqaamaat-e-Aah-o-Fughaan Aur Bhi Hain!

If a nest (home) was lost, what's the [cause of] grief?
There are other places for sighing and lamenting

Tu Shaaheen Hai, Parvaaz Hai Kaam Tera
Tere Saamne Aasmaan Aur Bhi Hain

You are a falcon, your task is to fly
Before you there are other skies as well to cover

Isi Roz-o-Shab Mein Ulajh Kar Nah Rah Jaa
Kih Tere Zamaan-o-Makaan Aur Bhi Hain

Don't remain entangled, in this day-and-night
For you have other times-and-places too

Gaye Din Ke Tanhaa Thaa Main Anjuman Mein
Yahaan Ab Mere Raaz-Daan Aur Bhi Hain!

The days are gone when I was alone in the gathering
Here, now, I have other secret-sharers too

Tarana-e-Milli

Cheen-o-Arab Hamaara, Hindusitaan Hamaaraa
Muslim Hain Ham, Watan Hai Saaraa Jahaan Hamaaraa

Central Asia and Arabia are ours, Hindustan is ours
Since we are Muslims, the whole world is our homeland

Tauheed Ki Amaanat Seenon Mein Hai Hamaare
Aasaan Naheen Mitaanaa Naam-o-Nishaan Hamaaraa

The trust of Oneness (Monotheism) is deep in our hearts
It is not easy to erase our identity [name and sign]

Duniya Ke But-kadon Mein Pehlaa Wo Ghar Khudaa Ka
Ham Uske Paasbaan Hain, Wo Paasbaan Hamaaraa

Among the world's worship places the first is that house of the Lord
We are its door-guards, it is our door-guard

Taighon Ke Saaye Mein Ham, Pal Kar Javaan Huwe Hain
Khanjar Hilaal Ka Hai Qaumi Nishaan Hamaaraa

We were raised, and have become youths, in the shadow of swords
The scimitar of the crescent moon is our 'group-related' sign

Maghrib Ki Vaadiyon Mein Goonji Azaan Hamaari
Thamtaa Nah Thaa Kisi Se Sail-e-Ravaan Hamaaraa

In the valleys of the west our call to prayer echoed
Our moving flood did not stop on account of anyone

Baa:til Se Dabne Waale Ay Aasmaan Naheen Ham
Sau Baar Kar Chukaa Hai Tu Imtihaan Hamaaraa

We are not, oh sky, ones to be oppressed by falsehood
A hundred times you've already tested us

Ay Gulsitaan-e-Andlus! Woh Din Hain Yaad Tujh Ko
Tha Teri Daaliyon Mein Jab Aashiyaan Hamaaraa

Oh garden of Andalusia! you remember those days
When our nest was in your branches

Ay Mauj-e-Dajlah! Tu Bhi Pahchaanti Hai Hamko
Ab Tak Hai Tera Darya Afsaanah-Khwaan Hamaaraa

Wh wave of the Tigris! you too recognize us
Till now your river is our story-teller

Ay Arz-e-Paak! Teri Harmat Pah Kat Mare Hain
Hai Khoon Tiri Ragon Mein Ab Tak Ravaan Hamaaraa

Oh pure land! for your sacredness we have been cut down and have died
Till now our blood moves in your veins

Saalaar-e-Kaaravaan Hai Miir-e-Hijaaz Apnaa
Us Naam Se Hai Baaqii Aaraam-e-Jaan Hamaaraa

Our leader of the caravan is the Chief of the Hijaz
Through that name the peace of our spirit lives on

Iqbaal Kaa Taraanah Baang-e-Daraa Hai Goyaa
Hotaa Hai Jaadah-Pemaa Phir Kaaravaan Hamaaraa

Iqbal's song is, {'so to speak' / 'speaking'} , the call of a bell
Again our caravan is on the road

Gazal: Ajab Waa'iz Ki Deendari Hai Ya Rab!

Ajab Waa'iz Ki Deendari Hai Ya Rab!
Adaawat Hai Ise Saare Jahaan Se.

Strange is the piety of the preacher, O Lord!
He has animosity (hatred) towards the whole world

Koi Ab Tak Na Ye Samjha Ke Insaan;
Kahaan Jaata Hai, Aata Kahaan Se?

Nobody has so far understood that Man!
Where he is going, and where is coming from?

Waheen Se Raat Ko Zulmat Mili Hai!
Chamak Taare Ne Payee Jahaan Se!

From the same source has the night obtained darkness!
The source from where the star has obtained brightness.

Hum Apni Dardmandi Ka Fasaana!
Suna Karte Hain, Apne Raazdaan Se.

The tale of our compassion is;
Always related by our sympathizer.

Badi Baarik Hain, Wa'iz Ki Chaalein;
Larazta Hai Awaaz-e-Azaan Se.

Very subtle are the ways of the preacher;
He trembles on hearing the voice of adhan!
